PRESS RELEASE
Financial Reports of 2005
Reduction of the Deficit of Mesa Yitonia Municipality
The deficit of the Approved Budget of Mesa Yitonia Municipality was significantly reduced last year. This is clearly shown in the financial reports of 2005 which have recently been concluded.
The deficit has been frozen to £97.000 for the year 2005 against £361.00 of the year 2004 and £517.000 of the year 2003, a fact that demonstrates the effectiveness of the careful management and continuous financial rectification which has been applied during the last years in the Municipality.
The implementation of the declared policy of the Municipal Council with regards to the restraint of the Municipality expenses resulted indeed in absolute success due to the consistent efforts of the Mayor Mr. Christos Messis and the Municipal Secretary Mr.Georgios Petrides as well as of the Municipal Service as a whole.
The expenses of the Municipality for the year 2005 were slightly increased by £35.000 only. From £1,761,000 in 2004 to £1.796.00 in 2005. Such increase must be considered insignificant, given that, although the policy of the Municipal Council of no new employments is being implemented for four (4) consecutive years, the municipal wages continue to increase normally by the annual raises.
Furthermore, the remarkable fact in the financial reports of 2005 is that they reaffirm the decisive upgrading of the tax collection ability of the Municipality and also the distinctive reduction of the administration expenses.
