Doros Antoniou was born on the 7th March 1965 in Limassol. His family comes from the Asgata village. He is married to Thoi Leonidou, teacher, and they have together three boys.
After completing secondary education at the Limassol Ayios Nicolaos 4th High School and his military service in 1984, he went to New York for attending University studies. He was granted a scholarship by the St. John’s University in New York and in 1989 he graduated with a B.S. in Accounting. He pursued postgraduate studies in Business Administration and in 1991 he graduated with an M.B.A. in Finance from the same University.
In 1989 he started a professional career in New York where he worked for five years as an Economist. In 1993 he came back to Cyprus and worked for big corporations involved in international activities from a management position until the late 2011. He also served on a number of boards of Public Companies in the Tourism and Financial Sector.
During his studenthood he was actively involved in the Cypriot students’ events in the USA and served as President in the Board of the Association of Cypriot Students in the USA for the period 1990-1991. He was very involved in sports in the USA and in Cyprus, mainly in Sport Academies and handled youth-related issues. He was an active member of the New York Pancyprian-Freedoms Association throughout his stay in the USA. He also served as member of the Board of Apollon Limassol from 2000 to 2010 and as President for the period 2005-2006. In 2009 he served as President of the Soccer Company. He was an active member in various charity foundations & organizations and he still is.
In the December 2011 Municipal Elections he was elected Mayor of Mesa Geitonia. Further to his mayor position, he was member of the Sewerage Board of Limassol-Amathus, the Limassol Water Board, the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Co. Ltd and Secretary of the G.N. Kalogeropoulos Foundation.
In the December 2016 Municipal Elections he was re-elected Mayor of Mesa Geitonia.
In March 2017 he was elected Vice President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities and in May 2017 he took over as President of the Limassol Integrated Facilities for Waste Management-OEDA.
